About Professor Pedro Sauer & PSBJJA
A Legacy of Authentic Jiu-Jitsu
Professor Pedro Sauer is one of the most respected figures in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu worldwide. Born in Rio de Janeiro, he began his training in martial arts at a young age and went on to study directly under Helio Gracie and Rickson Gracie, two of the most influential pioneers of the art. Under their guidance, Pedro became known not only for his technical mastery but also for his ability to teach Jiu-Jitsu in a way that is effective, safe, and accessible for everyone.
In 1990, Professor Sauer moved to the United States, where he helped introduce and spread authentic Gracie Jiu-Jitsu to a global audience. He has since earned recognition as an 8th Degree Coral Belt and has built a reputation for blending technical precision, leverage-based efficiency, and a deep respect for Jiu-Jitsu’s philosophy of self-defence and personal growth.
The Pedro Sauer Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association (PSBJJA)
The Pedro Sauer Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association (PSBJJA) is a worldwide network of affiliated academies dedicated to preserving and sharing the art of Jiu-Jitsu as taught by Helio and Rickson Gracie. With member schools across North and South America, Europe, and Asia, the PSBJJA is more than just an organization — it is a community built on respect, integrity, and continuous learning.
Affiliated academies follow a structured curriculum designed by Professor Sauer, ensuring students everywhere learn with consistency, safety, and authenticity. This structured approach creates an environment where beginners and advanced practitioners alike can thrive, while staying true to the principles of leverage and technique that make Jiu-Jitsu so effective.
